Here comes a gallery with some more impressions from our trip to New York City between Christmas and New Year. The last time we had been together to New York was in July 2001. Since we had already seen many of the touristic highlights the last time, we could skip them this time and instead discover many new things – but also rediscover some of the old. NYC still is an amazing city…
Image Search function added
An image search function has been added to our webpage. It can be called through the new menu item “Search”. It allows to search all our image galleries for any text but also the image keywords of all published images. The new functionality has been made possible by the GallerySearch for CE3 tool by Daniel Lieu. Thanks Daniel also for the breadcrumbs!

We spent a beautiful week in New York City with sightseeing, museums, opera, theatre, and concerts. And NO, we did not watch a ball falling on the Times Square with one million people. And YES, we left New York just in time before the snow and brutal cold arrived.
New picture gallery from Spitsbergen (Svalbard) published
Eventually I was able to prepare and publish the picture gallery from our circumnavigation of Spitsbergen with the Schooner bark Antigua in July 2013. We spent three exciting but also relaxing weeks sailing along the coastlines of Spitsbergen, exploring the islands and shores through extended hikes, and watch the fauna and flora of the arctic.

New picture gallery from the Island of Chiloé released
Here comes the picture gallery from our Xmas/New Year tour to the Island of Chiloé in the South of Chile. After a few days in the northern part of the island where we strolled the beaches looking for fossilised dinosaur poop, we visited in particular the Tantauco park which extends over 118,000 hectares in the southernmost part of the island.

We spent the turn of the year in the beautiful Tantauco park on the island of Chiloé, Chile. The end-of-the-year picture was taken on December 31st at the new lighthouse overlooking Caleta Inío.

First test shots posted
I just uploaded a gallery with test shots taken with the new AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/2.8G ED VR II lens in the nearby Parque Bicentenario on sunny Sunday morning. The lens is heavy but easy to handle on the monopod for example for animal shots. The speed and image quality are outstanding – as expected. The vibration reduction works extremely well.
AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/2.8G ED VR II has arrived
My new Nikon lens has eventually arrived from Germany. It was really hard to get – only very few shops in the world offer it at all. The AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/2.8G ED VR II is reported to be an outstanding tele lens. My first tests confirmed the excellent image quality from the centre out to the corners of the frame – even with the aperture wide open at f/2.8. Also in combination with the TC-20E III teleconverter the images are flawless at 600mm f/5.6. But enough testing on brick walls – now it’s time to go out and shoot.
